The deal was possible thanks to cooperation between Goplana’s maker, Colian, and the state-run Polish Investment and Trade Agency (PAIH), which has an office in the southeastern Asian city-state, reporters were told.

When Colian approached PAIH about its plans to expand into Singapore, the agency put the Polish chocolate maker in touch with one of Asia’s shopping giants, the DFI Retail Group.

Poland’s Goplana sweets add flavour to Christmas in Singapore

Following successful talks, the popular Goplana chocolate biscuits, Crunchy [Polish name Jeżyki] have just been included in the Christmas offer at 50 outlets of DFI Retail Group’s food store chain, Cold Storage, across Singapore, PAIH announced.

“This is just the beginning - our Singaporean customer is already interested in offering other Colian products,” said the Polish food company’s Senior Key Account Manager for Asia & Pacific, Malwina Przybylska.

Meanwhile, Maja Justyna, Business Development Manager at PAIH’s Singapore Office, noted that “DFI Retail Group is one of the biggest retailers in Asia.”

She added: “It’s worthwhile to work with them and enter one of the Asian markets in this way.”

Singapore's chocolate market to be worth USD 241 mln in 2025

According to Colian’s Przybylska, the Singaporean sweets market has good prospects and considerable growth potential.

Moreover, the chocolate and confectionery segment is growing at the fastest rate, and is expected to be worth USD 241 million by 2025, PAIH’s Justyna said.

Meanwhile, Poland is among the European Union’s top 10 sweets manufacturers, behind the likes of Germany, Belgium, Italy and France, officials told reporters.

Colian is one of Poland’s leading food makers; with a workforce of over 2,500, the company sells its products to more than 70 countries on all continents, PAIH noted.

PAIH helps promote Polish brands, products and services abroad; it also facilitates foreign direct investment in Poland, as well as domestic business projects, the agency said.
