Home completions down 2.9% in Poland in first two months of 2023: stats office

Builders in Poland completed 2.9 percent fewer homes in the first two months of this year than in the same period in 2022, the country’s Central Statistical Office (GUS) has reported.

Around 34,100 housing units were completed nationwide between the start of January and the end of February, the office said.

It added that the number of housing starts in January and February, at around 20,300 in total, was 31.7 percent lower than in the same period last year.

Meanwhile, overall output in Poland’s construction-and-assembly sector increased by 6.6 percent in February in year-on-year terms, while rising 10.6 percent month on month, the state-run statistics agency also reported.

Builders completed around 238,600 new homes in Poland last year, 1.7 percent more than in 2021, Statistics Poland said in a preliminary estimate earlier this year.
