The bill seeks to address the growing issue of deepfake pornography, which often targets young women, by ensuring equal legal treatment of such crimes across states and making it easier to prosecute those responsible for creating and distributing harmful AI-generated content.

In her statement, Melania emphasized that the victims of such abuses are often young women, targeted by former partners seeking revenge.

Her call comes as a potential revival of her "Be Best" campaign against cyberbullying, and also serves as a critique of Democratic leaders, whom she believes should prioritize this issue.

During an official roundtable on artificial intelligence and deepfakes, Melania Trump said:

I am here with you today with a common goal – to protect our youth from online harm. The widespread presence of abusive behavior in the digital domain affects the daily lives of our children, families, and communities.
