The Polish goal machine scored in the 62nd minute on Saturday, cementing his position as the league's top scorer this season.

With 15 goals so far, the 36-year-old Pole comfortably leads the Spanish top flight's scoring chart, well ahead of his closest competitors: teammate Raphinha, Osasuna's Ante Budimir and Real Madrid’s Vinícius Júnior, who are tied for second place with eight goals each.

In third place are Real Madrid's Kylian Mbappe and Villarreal's Ayoze Perez, both with seven goals.

Lewandowski, who plays for Barcelona and captains Poland’s national squad, also leads the scoring race across Europe's top five leagues this season.

He is tied with Bayern Munich's Harry Kane at 20 goals but is ahead of other players such as Manchester City's Erling Haaland, who has 15, according to the fcbarcelona.com website.

Lewandowski in November last year took home the Spanish premier league's Pichichi top scorer award for the 2022/2023 season.

The award was presented after the Pole ended his first season with Barcelona in June last year, by winning the Spanish top flight's golden boot.

The Pole has now scored 81 goals for Barça in all competitions.

Lewandowski has previously won seven top scorer awards in the German Bundesliga, where he played for Borussia Dortmund and Bayern.

The Polish marksman in October 2022 won the Gerd Müller Trophy for the best striker of the 2021/2022 season at the France Football Ballon d'Or Awards in Paris.

Meanwhile, Polish goalkeeper Wojciech Szczęsny is still awaiting his debut for Barcelona after joining the Spanish giants in early Octoberpublic broadcaster Polish Radio’s IAR news agency reported.
