Westinghouse Poland CEO Mirosław Kowalik collected the Investment Initiative of the Year award at the 37th EuroPower conference in the Polish capital last week.
Last month, Westinghouse Electric Company and state-owned Polish utility Polskie Elektrownie Jądrowe (PEJ) signed a deal to advance Poland’s new nuclear energy program.
The agreement moves the country one step closer to deploying multiple AP1000 reactors, the most advanced Generation III+ nuclear reactor available today, according to officials.
"We have put the project together; it is a proven technology, and now we are just trying to get everybody onboard," Elias Gedeon, senior vice president for commercial operations at Westinghouse Electric Company in Charlotte, North Carolina, told Radio Poland's Danuta Isler.
"We have the support of the client and the government financing institutions so we are very excited to work on this project," he added.
