The meeting is expected to focus on security and defence in the wake of Washington's decision to pause US military aid to Kyiv.

Key topics include "the possibilities of strengthening Polish-Ukrainian defence ties," according to the Polish defence ministry.

"The aim of the talks is to reinforce the strategic partnership and ensure stability in the face of new geopolitical challenges," the Polish defence ministry said in an announcement

The meeting comes as US President Donald Trump seeks to broker an end to Russia's three-year war, public broadcaster Polish Radio’s IAR news agency reported.

Russia launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022, starting the largest military conflict in Europe since World War II.

Wednesday is day 1,105 of Russia's war on Ukraine.
