Thousands of residents in Gdynia, Poland, are without heating and hot water due to a major system failure. The outage comes as temperatures hover around 27°F (-3°C), with a wind chill of 17°F (-8°C).

The heating system outage began on Wednesday, leaving many homes without warmth in freezing temperatures (27°F/-3°C, feeling like 17°F/-8°C). The cause of the failure is still under investigation.

“Heat supply to Gdynia residents connected to the municipal heating network was cut off until late at night,” said a spokesperson for the city’s heating provider.
