The Government Centre for Security (RCB) on Friday afternoon sent out text messages alerting people over possible power outages and urging them to avoid open spaces and secure any loose outdoor items that could be blown away.
Meanwhile, firefighters said they had been called out more than 200 times by 10 p.m. on Friday to deal with the aftermath of gales in various regions across the country, including the northwestern Zachodniopomorskie province, state news agency PAP reported.
There were no immediate reports of injuries or severe damage.
In February last year, seven people died and dozens were injured as a result of powerful winds in Poland, according to reports at the time.
