It is the first time that two Polish clubs have reached this stage in a single season of European competition.

The milestone follows Lech Poznań’s quarterfinal run two years ago, when it became the first Polish club to make it to the last eight of the Conference League.

Jagiellonia secured its place despite a 0-2 defeat to Belgian side Cercle Brugge in the second leg of the round of 16.

The team’s 3-0 victory in the first leg in Poland proved decisive in advancing on aggregate.

Legia overcame Norwegian club Molde after extra time in Warsaw.

Having lost the first leg 2-3 in Norway, the Polish side equalized the aggregate score with a goal from Japan’s Ryoya Morishita in the 34th minute.

The match, played in heavy rain and occasional snowfall, remained tied until extra time, when Spanish forward Marc Gual’s shot in the 108th minute slipped past Molde’s goalkeeper Jacob Karlstroem.

In the quarterfinals, Jagiellonia will face Spain’s Real Betis on April 10 and 17.

Betis eliminated Portugal's Vitória de Guimarães, drawing 2-2 in Spain before a dominant 4-0 win in Portugal.

The Spanish club has already played in Poland this season, losing 0-1 to Legia in the group stage.

Legia will take on Chelsea, the most accomplished team remaining in the tournament and considered the favorite to win.

The English club secured its place in the quarterfinals with a 1-0 victory over FC Copenhagen, following a 3-1 win in the first leg.

Poland’s strong performance in this year’s competition has boosted the country’s UEFA ranking from 21st to 15th.

This improvement means that in the 2026-2027 season, five Polish clubs will qualify for European competitions: two will enter the Champions League qualifiers, one will compete in the Europa League qualifiers, and two will play in the Conference League qualifiers.

Jagiellonia and Legia have, so far, each earned over EUR 8.5 million in UEFA prize money this season.

The Conference League, formerly known as the Europa Conference League, is the youngest of UEFA’s three major tournaments.

The final of this season's Conference League will take place in Wrocław, Poland, on May 28, 2025.
