Production facilities responsible for gas extraction were damaged, though no casualties were reported. Technicians are assessing the extent of destruction and working to restore operations, Naftohaz CEO Roman Chumak said in a statement.
“We will do everything to ensure the country has access to gas,” Chumak added, thanking employees and energy workers for their service under “extremely difficult conditions.”
Earlier on Friday, Ukrainian Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko said Russia had launched a “massive” missile and drone attack against the country’s energy and gas infrastructure.
